HealThink participated yesterday in the Health IT Conference and had the honour to present for the first time the PAVE project which was sponsored by NOVARTIS (Hellas).
Panos Stafylas (HealThink), the scientific director of PAVE, presented the project which aimed at studying the current situation regarding the secondary use of health data in Greece and proposing an objective, widely accepted and realistic framework for the utilization of the country's health data.
We would like to thank the Board of Experts of the project: Dimitrios G. Katehakis (Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), Hellenic Digital Health Cluster (HDHC)), Panagiotis Bamidis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, ΕΛΕΒΙΤ, HL7 Hellas), Konstantinos Votis (Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH)), Angelina Kouroubali, PhD, FIAHSI (Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH)) and Elena Stafyla (HealThink), and the representatives of all involved stakeholders (patients & citizens, physicians, researchers, ITspecialists, medical societies, decision-makers, Greek digital health ecosystem, international experts, etc.) who participated in the project.

Three members of the Board of Experts of the project, Angelina Kouroubali (FORTH), Dimitrios Katehakis (FORTH) and Konstantinos Votis (CERTH) participated in the panel of the Round Table "The use of Health Data: Opportunities and Challenges". 
Angelina Kouroubali talked about the situation in Greece regarding the secondary use of health data and presented the SWOT analysis. Read the press release here.
Dimitrios Katehakis presented the PAVE Framework and the Roadmap, which both include specific proposals and steps related to the development of appropriate infrastructure, ensuring data readiness, governance, as well as skills development by all parties involved. PAVE Framework highlights the importance of the legal framework, the political consensus, and the financial resources, as well as the partnership of public and private sector. Dimitrios Katehakis, concluded his speech, pointing out that the proposed PAVE Framework addresses the weaknesses and threats in the secondary use of health data in Greece, while exploiting the strengths of the Greek environment and the opportunities presented in it. Read the press release here.
