Heart diseases are the leading mortality cause worldwide. This is an important scientific, societal, and economic challenge. Population ageing, cardiovascular medicine availability and affordability, and healthcare workforce constraints threaten the healthcare systems viability constantly.
Digital Health interventions, such as telemonitoring, mHealth apps, and others aim to support and mediate the healthcare services delivery in a more universal way, leading to patients’ empowerment, improved long-term patient outcomes, and reduced healthcare costs.
The World Heart Federation in a well-structured article strategically describes the key roadblocks that hinder an effective digital transformation, such as lack of digital literacy, lack of health technology assessment frameworks, unclear reimbursement pathways.
